I am a tinkerer by nature. The way that I work is born out of an obsessive desire to create and destroy - to take apart and put back together. Like folk artists, I use the language of tinkering in my work. Building whirly-gigs and assemblages out of scrap and detritus, I use a post-industrial vernacular within a folk tradition to create my work.

More than anything I seek to bring awareness to our collective attitudes and trends concerning our stewardship of the natural environment. As we continue to deplete the available natural resources, it is progressively more important to develop new ideas in the promotion of conservation and recycling. In my work I strive to use recycled, reclaimed, and salvaged materials, and to use these materials to demonstrate the beauty in reinterpretation of the old. The future will look old and new
